Welcome!
Thanks for spending some time on Pickled & Poached! Starting a food blog is something that has been in the back of my mind for nearly 6 years. Finally, it was about time to stop thinking about it and take the leap! The purpose of Pickled & Poached is to catalog my adventures in the kitchen. Beyond sharing my recipes, I plan to also provide some of my favorite cooking tips and include a little bit of my nutrition know-how.
My husband, Joe, and I recently moved back home to Minneapolis, MN after living out of state for nearly 6 years. We started our adventures in Fort Lauderdale, FL while Joe completed his Occupational Therapy degree. There was SO MUCH to love about living South Florida {first and foremost being the sunshine and the ability to have beach days 11 months out of the year.} One of my hands-down favorite part of living in Fort Lauderdale – the food. We did not have to go very far to find amazing and authentic South American cuisines, with our top choice being Cuban {blog recipes in progress.}
After Joe’s graduation, our sense of adventure continued to thrive. We agreed that we wanted to spend a few years in a brand new place before we eventually settled down in Minnesota. We unanimously decided on Chicago. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love that city. The energy. The culture. The never ending list of new restaurants to try. We knew our time in the city wasn’t permanent we had to make the most of it. The 3 years we lived there were dedicated to trying new restaurants and falling in love with new dishes and cuisines.
We recently bought a duplex in Minneapolis where we live with our chatty, seven-toed Hemingway cat, Rori. In our free time, we like to get out and explore the city on our bikes, work on home projects, and check out new restaurants.
